We went to Annapolis for the day!
Just an hour away from our place in Belcamp MD, we decided to go for the whole day and celebrate my husband's birthday.
FIRST STOP: SHIRLEY'S
Our first stop was brunch at Shirley's in Annapolis.
He got a huge omelet and I got massive chocolate chip pancakes [which I should’ve ordered as a half order]. The mimosas were fabulous and all the servers were really kind.
This restaurant was so awesome, it's become one of our top favorite places to eat.
EXTRA TIME BEFORE SAILING = SHOPPING!
After brunch we drove down the street, just 7min, to where we would be boarding the sailboat later.
We had some time before our cruise so we had the opportunity to explore and of course, shop! I bought a cute, white crossover purse and he got a mug that says “I’m crabby until I’ve had my coffee” with a crab & "Annapolis" on it.
It was fun seeing the local merchandise and products that were made from old boat sails, nets, or driftwood - everything was made with such creativity!
SAILING
Neither of us had ever gone sailing before! It sounded like a blast and “go sailing” was on both of our Bucket Lists so needless to say, we were stoked.
To see my full bucket list, see this post here.
We went sailing with Schooner Woodwind Annapolis Sailing Cruises.
Our captain, Mickey, was entertainingly funny and told us fun facts about the bay and its history. I think the most exciting part was seeing all of the other sailboats out there.
We also enjoyed watching the crew when they would run around to make the big sails change direction or when they would yell out funny words to signal the other crew members to move. It was cool watching them move an entire sailboat so effortlessly together. We will definitely be going again one day, but instead of during the day, we’ll go at sunset ;).
DINNER ON THE WATER
We had dinner on the water afterward at Latitude 38. We sat upstairs, in the corner, with a perfect view of the sailboats on the water. We were both still full from Shirley’s so we got small dishes - I got a salad, he got sliced sandwiches.
Although we so wanted to get ice cream while we were there, we had cheesecake waiting for us at home!
FOOTBALL & CHEESECAKE
On the drive home we listened to a fantasy football podcast. I enjoy listening with my husband because the episodes help me learn about his passion: football!
Once we were home we watched Hard Knocks. It’s a football show and of course I sang him happy birthday and we had cheesecake to go with it.
I actually love watching football with him and he appreciates the fact that I try to learn more about his hobby and stay engaged.
CELEBRATING
It also happened to be our 4 month anniversary of marriage! We have celebrated in some way or another on the 19th of each month, just for the fun of it.
I’d say sailing and a birthday are a good way to celebrate.
I hope this post was informative and helps you plan your next trip to Annapolis! If you do go, please send me pictures & let me know what your favorite part was, I'd love to hear about it!
xoxo,
Allison
